Announcing Hartford New Music Festival – May 5, 2012

Stay tuned for the second edition of the HARTFORD NEW MUSIC FESTIVAL taking place on May 5, 2012 at Charter Oak Cultural Center, beginning at 2pm. Watch this space to find out more info, including program info and tickets!

This year’s festival will feature the first ever HNMF Commission: New Haven based composer-singer Anne Rhodes will create a large-scale embroidered graphic score for improvising ensemble, including bassist Carl Testa, tubist Ben Klein, cellist Nathan Bontrager, oboist Libby van Cleve, harpist Maura Valenti and percussionist Bill Solomon.

Also on this year’s festival:

cellist Jeffrey Krieger performs Cenk Ergun‘s 30-minute Cello Peace for electric cello and 4-channel electronic playback

NYC’s EXILKABARETT performs songs by Kirsten Volness and Hanns Eisler

sound/video installation by Gene Gort and Ken Steen

pianist Jocelyn Ho plays Jocelyn Ho and Frederic Rzewski

Ensemble 016 plays John Cage’s Atlas Eclipticalis

cellist Jessie Marino performs Alvin Lucier

Oboe Duo Agosto performs Feng-Hsu Lee

Anne Rhodes and Maura Valenti perform Anthony Braxton

new works by Marc Burns, Todd Merrell, Robert Carl and Matt Sargent
